Terms and Conditions (T's & C's)

Terms & Conditions: Toaster Bath & Co.
Last updated: 7 November 2026

These terms apply to everything you buy from Toaster Bath & Co., online at toasterbathco.co.za and in person. They are written in plain language on purpose. Nothing in them takes away any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act (CPA), the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act (ECTA) or the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). If anything here ever seems to, the law wins.

Important terms we want you to notice
The law asks us to point these out clearly, and we would rather you heard them from us now than at the worst possible moment:
• Custom orders can't be cancelled for a change of mind once we've started designing. See section 9.
• If you return a standard item under the 7-day cooling-off right, you pay the return courier cost. See section 7.
• Please report transit damage within 48 hours, with photos. This helps us claim from the courier. It does not take away your 6-month CPA rights. See section 8.
• Colours on screen and on paper are never identical. Small variations are not a defect. See section 2.
• We limit our liability where the law allows. See section 14.
• We may cancel an order for suspected fraud or an obvious pricing error, with a full refund. See sections 3 and 12.

2. Our products
We sell art prints (unframed and framed), greeting cards, keychains, gift cards and custom artwork, plus any other products we list from time to time.
• Printed to order. Most prints are printed and framed specifically for your order. That's why they take a little longer to reach you.
• Images are mock-ups. Product photos show how a print could look in a room. Props, walls and plants are not included (sadly).
• Colour. Every screen shows colour differently, and paper is not a screen. Small differences between what you see online and the printed piece are normal and are not a defect.
• Frames. Our frames are synthetic wood with real glass, in the colours shown on each listing. Glass is glass: please handle and hang with care.
• Handmade items. Where an item is hand-finished or hand-painted, small variations make each piece one of a kind. We describe these on the listing.
• Strong language. Some designs in our Sweary collection contain strong language. The product title and image show this before you buy.

3. Prices and payment
• All prices are in South African rand and no VAT is charged, as we are not VAT-registered.
• The delivery fee is shown at checkout before you pay. Our current standard delivery fee and free-delivery threshold are shown in the banner on our website.
• Card and Apple Pay payments are processed securely by Paystack. We never see or store your full card details.
• For EFT payments, please pay and send proof of payment within 24 hours. If we don't receive payment by then, we'll cancel the order and let you know.
• Pricing errors. If a price on our website contains an obvious, accidental error, we'll correct it and contact you before dispatch. You can then choose to pay the correct price or cancel for a full refund.

4. Your order
• Placing an item in your cart doesn't reserve it. Stock is secured when payment is successful.
• After you pay, we email an order confirmation. Our agreement with you is formed when your payment succeeds.
• If we can't fulfil your order (for example, a limited edition sells out at the same moment), we'll tell you and refund the full amount you paid within 7 business days.
• Limited editions are produced in limited runs. Once sold out, they may not be reprinted.

5. Promotions, gift cards and giveaways
Promotions. Each offer (for example, mix-and-match print deals, card bundles or a welcome offer) has its own conditions, shown with the offer. Unless an offer says otherwise, only one discount code can be used per order. A code can be used together with automatic offers, such as our mix-and-match deals. If you return part of a discounted order, we refund what you actually paid for that item.
Gift cards.
• Gift cards are valid for 3 years from the date of issue, as the CPA requires.
• You can use the balance across more than one order until it runs out.
• Gift cards can't be exchanged for cash.
• An unused gift card can be cancelled for a full refund within 7 days of purchase.
• Please keep your gift card code safe. Anyone with the code can use it.
Competitions and giveaways. Any competition or giveaway we run has its own rules, published with it and available free on request. Entry is always free. Winners are never required to appear in our marketing.

6. Delivery
• We deliver within South Africa only, using a courier service. You'll receive tracking details by email when your order is dispatched.
• Estimated delivery times, from payment to your door: unframed prints, cards and keychains 3–5 business days; framed prints 8–14 business days; custom orders: first draft in 3–5 business days, then the times above once you approve the final design.
• Business days exclude weekends and South African public holidays. Times are estimates. If your order will arrive later than estimated, we'll tell you as soon as we know.
• If we fail to deliver on a date we agreed with you, you may cancel your order for a full refund, as the CPA allows.
• We close over the festive season. Closure dates and the last order date are shown on our website each year.
• Please check your delivery address carefully. If a parcel is returned because of an incorrect address or failed delivery attempts, a redelivery fee may apply.
• The parcel is at our risk until it is delivered to you.

7. Cancelling your order
Before dispatch. Email us at hello@toasterbathco.co.za and we'll cancel your order and refund you in full, as long as it hasn't been dispatched yet. Custom orders follow section 9.
After delivery: your 7-day cooling-off right. For items bought online, ECTA gives you the right to cancel within 7 days after receiving the goods, without giving a reason. Here's how it works with us:
1. Email us within 7 days of delivery with your order number.
2. Send the item back, well packed, to the address we give you. You pay the direct cost of the return courier.
3. We refund the full amount you paid for the order, using your original payment method, within 14 business days of receiving the item back. (The law allows up to 30 days.)
The cooling-off right does not apply to custom orders or other items made to your specifications or personalised for you. This exclusion is set out in section 42 of ECTA.
Market and in-person purchases. The 7-day cooling-off right only applies to online purchases. Items bought in person are still fully covered by your CPA rights for faulty goods in section 8.

8. Faulty, damaged or incorrect items
You're entitled to goods that are of good quality, work as described and are free of defects. If something isn't right, we'll fix it.
Damaged in transit. Please email us within 48 hours of delivery with photos of the item and the packaging. Quick reports help us claim from the courier and get a replacement to you faster. A later report doesn't cancel your rights. It just makes it harder to show what happened.
Faulty or not as described. Within 6 months of delivery, you may return an item that is defective, of poor quality or not as described. We'll arrange and pay for the return, and you choose whether we repair it, replace it or refund you.
Wrong item. If we send the wrong item, let us know within 10 days. We'll arrange the return at our cost and send the right item, or refund you if you prefer.
You don't need the original packaging to return a faulty item, and we never charge a handling fee for it.
What isn't a defect: small colour differences between screen and print, normal wear and tear, or damage after delivery caused by an accident, misuse, damp or long exposure to direct sunlight.

9. Custom orders
1. The brief. You choose a size and frame, describe your idea and upload any reference images. You pay when you place the order.
2. The draft. We send a digital draft within 3–5 business days.
3. The tweaks. You get up to 3 rounds of minor revisions (fonts, colours, layout). Bigger changes or a new concept may cost extra, and we'll quote you first.
4. Sign-off. Once you approve the final design, it goes to print. Please check spelling, names and dates carefully. We print exactly what you approve.
Cancelling a custom order. Before we start designing: full refund. After we've sent the first draft: refund less our design fee of R200. After you've approved the final design: no cancellation for a change of mind, because the piece is made to your specifications. A faulty print is still covered by section 8.
If we don't hear from you for 30 days after sending a draft, we'll email a reminder and may then close the order on the same basis as a cancellation after the first draft.
Your material. By sending us text, photos, logos or references, you confirm you have the right to use them. We may decline a brief that uses someone else's copyrighted characters or trademarks, or content that is hateful or unlawful.
Who owns the design. We keep the copyright in the artwork we create. You own the physical piece and may display it for personal use. We may share the finished piece in our portfolio and on social media. Tell us if you'd rather we didn't, and we won't share anything with personal names or photos without asking.

10. Our designs and content
All designs, artwork, photos and text on our website and social media belong to Toaster Bath & Co. Buying a print gives you the print, not the copyright. You may not copy, reproduce, resell copies of, or use our designs or content (including to train AI tools) without our written permission.

11. Hanging your art
Framed prints are heavier than they look. Please use fixings suitable for your wall and the frame's weight. We aren't responsible for damage caused by fixings or by hanging.

12. Fraud and order verification
To protect you and us, we may ask you to verify an order before we process it. We will never ask for your card number, PIN or a photo of your card. If an order appears fraudulent, we may cancel it and refund the payment to the original payment method.

13. Your personal information
We collect only what we need to fulfil your order and run our shop: your name, contact details, delivery address and order history. We use it to process and deliver your order, provide support and, if you've opted in, send you our newsletter.
• We share only what's needed with the service providers who help us: our payment processor, courier, production partners, website host and email platform.
• We never sell your information.
• You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time, using the link in every email.
• You may ask to see, correct or delete your information, or object to how we use it. Email hello@toasterbathco.co.za. You may also complain to the Information Regulator.
Our Information Officer is Cheyenne Savage-Stone, contactable at hello@toasterbathco.co.za.

14. Our liability
As far as the law allows, our total liability for any order is limited to the amount you paid for it, and we aren't liable for indirect losses. This does not limit our liability for gross negligence, for harm caused by unsafe or defective goods, or for any right you have that the law doesn't allow us to limit.

15. Using our website
We work hard to keep our website accurate and online, but can't guarantee it will always be available or error-free. Product availability can change without notice.

16. Complaints
Please contact us first at hello@toasterbathco.co.za or +27 61 877 1661. We'll reply within 2 business days and do our best to sort it out.
If we can't resolve your complaint, you can contact the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud (CGSO) for free: www.cgso.org.za, 0860 000 272 or info@cgso.org.za.
These terms are governed by South African law.

17. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version on our website when you place an order applies to that order.
